Since Covid-19 Pandemic began, the demand for goods and services online has sky-rocked. In addition, due to the fear of the pandemic many persons are afraid to go to stores in person to make purchases for products that they may need. As a result of this, the demand for online shopping has sky-rocked. Companies such as Walmart, Target and Amazon have seen sales increased 10 times what they previously were. And forecasters and Economic Analysts have predicted that sales will be even greater come fall and the fourth quarter.

So how can you benefit from this demand for products online? This is prime time for you to benefit financially by selling products online as well and to be able to earn a good living doing so. One might ask; how do I get started, how is this done and how much money would I need to get started?

For those of you who have been furloughed and might find that you need to now think outside the box and find another means to support yourself, this is a great opportunity for you to own your own business and begin the process of becoming an Entrepreneur.

1.     To get started, I would advise that you begin by selling on ebay because this site has the easiest and quickest means of getting started. You need NO money to begin selling on ebay. The ebay site will allow you to have up to 200 listings monthly for zero insertion / listing fees. You will only be charged a fee based on the cost of your product and the category, when your item sells. Unlike Amazon where there is a Professional (FBA Membership) Monthly fee of $39.99.

2.     Open an account on both ebay and PayPal (PayPal is how you would received the proceeds of your sales from ebay).

3.     You might ask, how do I sell products for free on ebay if I have no money to invest in buying inventory. You don’t need to purchase inventory to start. You can begin by Drop shipping products on your ebay site.

4.     Drop shipping is defined as: “selling a product that you don’t own physically or one that is NOT in your possession.” This works by you choosing products online from a few online Wholesalers or Retailers. You copy and paste their listings, including images onto your ebay Account. When you receive a sale for the product that is listed, then you place the order for the product and have it shipped to your customer.

5.     I have found that I had been doing very well for myself using this method and listing products from Wal-Mart and Target. I have chosen those two Retailers because of the categories that I typically sell in, namely Toys and Small Appliances. These two categories have been selling well for me.

6.     Also, because these two Retailers have lots of locations in many cities, so if you need to, you can go to a physical location, purchase the product and ship it out to your customer.

7.     To be successful doing this, check Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and ebay best sellers in whatever categories that you choose, make a list of the products that you are interested in selling, then check the prices to see what they are selling for on each site. Look at the lowest price (this is the one that you would purchase from) and the highest or mid-way (after adding the cost of the product, ebay fee, Pay Pal fee and then your profit) and that is how you determine how much you will list it for. Example. I found a pack of 4 play dough in Wal-Mart for $2.46. It is selling on Amazon for $12.98 and ebay for $9.99. Because I have an account on both sites, I am selling them on Amazon.

8.     The reason why you want to have a PayPal account is because depending on the cost of the product (typically under $40 sale); PayPal will make the money available to you right away as compared to Amazon where you have to wait for 2 weeks before receiving any monies.
